A few nice restaurants to eat noodles (soba) in Ishigaki

In Ishigaki as well as in Okinawa prefecture, the most common noodle is called soba (そば). The dish is looking like a soup with noodles, pork, green onion and fish cake (kamaboko). It's a traditional (and cheap) meal.
There are many versions of it, also it's possible to find soba cooked with vegetables, seaweeds, beef, shrimps etc... In Okinawa, soba noodles are made with wheat flour, while soba in the main land of Japan are made with buckwheat flour.

Yaeyama Kato Soba – 八重山嘉とそば -LUNCH-

Restaurant located between Kabira and Yonehara. The speciality of the restaurant is Okinawa shrimp noodles.The soup and the noodles’ style is different from the other soba restaurants of the island. It tastes more like râmen.

Located in the center of Kabira (behind the police office), this is a nice home made noodles restaurant. Great home made ice creams too (not all year round). Small parking

Sabo Ufuta - 茶房うふた -LUNCH- (Fukai area)

Located 10 min. by car from the house, this is a very good traditional Yaeyama soba restaurant. 八重山そば (Yaeyama soba) is a bol of noodles with pieces of pork . ジューシー (ju-shi-), is an Okinawan dish made of rice. For the dessert you can try the shaved ice made with Hateruma island black sugar.

Soba restaurant located in the north of the island. It's very popular to Japanese tourists who drive up north just to eat noodles... The prices are reasonnable. Differents kinds of noodles available as well as tonkatsu.
